Ruth Grayce Lankenau Obituary June 1, 1937 - October 7, 2020 Ruth Grayce Lankenau, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at the age of 83 surrounded by loving family members. Ruth was born on June 1, 1937 in Queens, NY to Clyde Gordon and Vera Louise Lewis. She graduated from Andrew Jackson High School. She went on to become an Executive Secretary in New York City. On June 23, 1957, Ruth married her husband, Robert (Bob) Allen Lankenau; they were married 51 years before he passed away in December 2008. They lived in Seaford, NY and Lords Valley, PA for most of their married life before wintering in Port St. Lucie, FL. Predeceased by her husband, Ruth moved to Jacksonville, FL to be close to their youngest daughter and only grandchild. As a young woman, Ruth was a member of the Hollis Chapter Order of the Eastern Star and was crowned Unity Triangle Beloved Queen. She an active member of her churches, Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Seaford, The Church at Hemlock Farms in PA and Palm City Presbyterian Church in Florida. Over the years, she volunteered at her churches, community blood drives and Hemlock Farms Library any way she could assist. Ruth was an avid tennis player, golfer and she loved crafting, sewing, crocheting and knitting. If you had the pleasure of being at her Christmas dinner table, you left with one of her many handmade Christmas ornaments. Ruth is survived by her daughters Debra A. Lankenau of Stone Mountain, GA, Cynthia G. Lankenau of Jacksonville, FL, son John R. Lankenau of New York City, NY; amazing granddaughter Grayce Noelle Lankenau, brother Bruce Lewis, nephews Todd and Mark Lewis, great nephew, Tristan Lewis and great nieces Sarah and Hannah Lewis Memorial Service will be held 10:30 am Saturday, June 19, 2021 at The Church at Hemlock Farms, Lords Valley, PA. For those unable to attend, the service will be available via Zoom, please use the following link.
