Barbara Jean (Graham) Brewer, 88, of Middleburg, Florida, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2025, at her home. She was born January 10, 1937, in Wyco, West Virginia, the daughter of Noah Alford and Iva Lucy (Thompson) Graham.
Barbara spent the first eight years of her life in Wyco, West Virginia before moving to Allen Junction, where she graduated from Mullens High School in Mullens, West Virginia in 1954. She pursued her passion for beauty and fashion by attending Little French Beauty Academy in Bluefield, West Virginia, where she obtained her beautician license. Barbara worked as a master beautician for several years, building lasting relationships with her clients.
On March 4, 1961, Barbara married Denver Miller Brewer in New Jersey. They shared 57 years of marriage before Denver's death in 2018.
Barbara was an accomplished seamstress who created beautiful clothing for herself, her daughter Teresa, her sister Nora, and other special people in her life. Her attention to detail and skill with fabric brought joy to her family for decades.
Barbara enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and abroad. She lived for several years in England and had the opportunity to visit Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Mexico, Israel, and Egypt, experiences that enriched her worldview and provided her with cherished memories. Her last big travel adventure was an Alaskan cruise in 2022 with her daughter and family friends.
Barbara was a longtime member of Black Creek Methodist Church, formerly Middleburg United Methodist Church, serving on the finance committee multiple times and staff parish committee. She was also a founding member of the kitchen crew, working alongside her friends for many years to raise money for things like youth ministry and kitchen appliances. She also spent many years working in the kitchen for Vacation Bible School at the church. Barbara was a member of Middleburg Order of the Eastern Star and served multiple times as Conductress. She was also on the advisors board for Middleburg Rainbow Girls and served as Mother Advisor for several years where she was affectionately known as "Mom Barbie."
In recent years, Barbara became the beloved unofficial "mascot" of the duClay Chapter of the Embroiderers' Guild of America. Though she didn't stitch herself, she thoroughly enjoyed attending duClay EGA chapter events with her daughter Teresa and Sun Region EGA events, where she delighted in seeing the beautiful work from stitchers across Florida. Her warm presence and genuine interest in the craft endeared her to members throughout the guild community.
She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Brewer of Middleburg, Florida; her stepson Douglas Brewer (Phyllis) of Lakewood Park, Florida; her sister and brother-in-law, Nora and James Hart of Wayside, West Virginia; her nephews David Graham (Sue) of Johnson City, Tennessee, Sandra (Graham) VonSeggem of Toledo, Ohio, Robert Hart of Forest Hill, West Virginia, Michael Hart of Concord, North Carolina, and Steven Hart (Angela) of Coolridge, West Virginia; four grandchildren: Christine Brewer of Exeter, Pennsylvania, Douglas Brewer Jr. (Shannon) of Deltona, Florida, Kristin (Brewer) Cirini (James) of Orange Park, Florida, and Arthur J.
