Barbara H. Brown, 72, born on June 11, 1945 in Payne Gap, KY, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 19, 2017 at her home in Jacksonville, FL. She was the beloved wife of Donald R. Brown, with whom she spent 51 years of a love-filled and blessed marriage. Barbara was an intensely loving wife, mother, and friend. She is survived by her husband Donald, sons Tim and Dan (all of Jacksonville), her sister Kaye Brown (Burlington, KY), and many in-laws, nieces, and nephews. Barbara worked as a secretary and clerical worker for many years, including her time spent as a long-time employee for Duval County Public Schools. Barbara was known for her loving spirit, always caring for her son's friends as if they were her own children. She also had a great and unrivaled sense of humor. Over the years, when she'd talk about when it was her time to die, she'd assure us all that when she arrives in Heaven, if they try to deny her entry, she'd "kick those gates open." Her family, and the many others who loved her and knew her best, take comfort in knowing that when she passed over, she was most assuredly ushered straight to the front of the line, met by open arms and God's loving grace. If you feel compelled to do so, the family asks that you please donate to the hospice of your choice.
