Carolyn Annette Gilyard Profile Photo
Carole "Auntee" Annette Gilyard was a caring daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, friend and
Auntee to many. She left this world suddenly on May 19, 2024 at age 73.
She was born to Keller and Minnie Gilyard on September 26, 1950. After graduating from high
school, "Auntee" chased her dreams of working as a radio DJ, which she did for many years before transitioning to foster child care. Auntee had a passion for advocating for children and being a voice for those that didn't have one. Auntee gave birth to one child (Torr), but raised and nurtured many children in her life.

Auntee loved spending time with her family. There was always someone laughing and clowning
around the dinner table with her. Everyone loved Auntee's quirky sense of humor and how she could cheer up an entire room with one word. Auntee loved watching movies with the family with her Cherry Coke in hand.
After a long day at work or school everyone loved listening to Auntee's stories about her past
adventures. Auntee was a fighter and a survivor. She battled cancer twice, multiple strokes, blood
clots and diabetes. She never let any of that get her down and she always had a smile ready to give.

Auntee loved history and genealogy. She was the only person that knew everyone's name in the whole family, young and old. She loved to travel and has visited locations all over the U.S. and beyond. In her last year, she spent most weekends crocheting a new blanket or on the phone gossiping about the latest news.

Auntee's sudden departure is gravely felt by her entire family and countless others who loved her
deeply in her wide-network of family and friends. Carole is survived by her Aunt Letha, her sisters Linda, Bobbie (Solomon) and Luster (Ronnie); her brothers Sam (Melvina) and Douglas (Oneretta); Her son Torr (Niemat); her nephews Derek, Greg(Angel), Damian (Nicole), and Leron; her nieces Shala, Monica, Elesia, Kellie and Taylor.
