Carolyn Lourcey age 90, passed away April 8, 2022 at 6:39 am. She was born Aug 21, 1931 to Rex and Fronie Sykes in Jacksonville, Fla.
Carolyn was preceded in death by both of her parents, her husband Vic Lourcey, three sisters Margaret Carmichael, Laverne Shepherd, Faye Elias. A granddaughter Sandy Lourcey, great grandson Deklyn John Chain and a grand-daughter-in-law Nicole Hollis.
Carolyn was born and raised in Jacksonville but lived most of her adult life in Mandarin. She married Louis V (Vic) Lourcey Feb 4, 1950. They had four children a son Louie Lourcey (Maureen), Deborah Hollis (Curt), Dena Prince (Stephen), Renee Work (John). She has 13 grandchildren Robbie Stetler, Vickie Smith, John Lourcey, Curt Hollis Jr, Dusty Hollis, Justin Hollis, Shannon Wroblewski, John Paul Work, Virginia Chain, James Work, Sherry Ross, Casey Lourcey and Brandy Lourcey and 24 great grandchildren and too many to count nieces and nephews.
Carolyn graduated from Andrew Jackson High and then married.
As a teen she enjoyed her time riding motorcycles through the mountains of North Carolina. Carolyn spent the last 17 years living in St Augustine.
Known to many as “Granny” not only by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren but also the friends of her children and grandchildren. Granny enjoyed the hard times that her grandkids would give her especially her grandsons. Those times will be the highlight of their conversations as they bring up memories of her.
Her services are being handled by Naugle Funeral Home in Jacksonville, Fl.
Visitation will be Tue April 12 at 1:00 pm at St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Mandarin, Fla with the service following at 2:00 pm at St Joseph’s Catholic Church and burial in the St Joseph’s Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Curt Hollis, Jr, Dusty Hollis, John Paul Work, Justin Hollis, Casey Lourcey and Tom Wroblewski.
