Casimira “Kit/Kazia” Kita was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on December 10, 1936, to Frank and Helen (Olbrys) Kita. She passed away on September 14, 2026, in Fleming Island, Florida, at the age of 89, with her treasured friend, Cheryl Alward, by her side.

Kit was predeceased by her brothers, Lucian Kita and Stanley F. Kita. She is survived by her nieces and nephews and their families: Terry (Marsha) Kita and their sons, Matthew and Zachary; Kathleen (David) Hollerbach and their daughters, Megan and Summer; Annmarie (Frank) Catrambone and their son, Mason; and Andrew (Amy) Kita, along with Andrew’s children, Jordan and Malia.

A graduate of Nazareth Academy and Holy Family College, Kit built a distinguished career as a computer analyst with Kransley & Co. in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. She was part of the team that developed and patented a groundbreaking system for the electronic processing of revolving credit, a system that remains in use today by banking institutions worldwide. Her expertise and deep knowledge of these foundational electronic banking systems made her a highly respected and sought-after professional. Her career took her to Oakland, California, where she lived for many years, and later to Sarasota, Florida.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Kit’s lifelong passion for the fiber arts was central to who she was. A talented and prolific sewist and quilter, she also delighted in knitting, beading, and many other needle arts. She became well known for the beautiful quilts she lovingly created and generously gifted to family and friends. Her handmade quilts, sewn creations, and knitted gifts remain cherished heirlooms, treasured for both their beauty and the love woven into every stitch.

Kit’s life was enriched by a close circle of dear friends who became the sisters she never had. Their love, devotion, and caring presence brought her lasting companionship, comfort, and joy throughout the years. These treasured friendships were an integral part of her life and a source of great happiness. Through her shared passion for the fiber arts, Kit also formed many lasting friendships as a member of several fiber art groups. She delighted in sharing her knowledge and talents, teaching family and friends these beloved crafts and passing her passion on to others.

Kit also shared many years of companionship with her beloved cat, Miss Butters, who held a special place in her heart.

Kit was deeply proud of her Roman Catholic faith and was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church.
