Charles Lee Fare “Chuck”, age 71, devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on January 29, 2026, in Jacksonville, Florida.
He was born on February 3,1954 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to parents Bob Fare and Jackie Jackson. Chuck’s life was shaped by a deep commitment to excellence, education, and meticulous attention to detail. He proudly served in the U.S. Army for more than 20 years, earning a Meritorious Service Medal for his support of Operation Desert Storm along with numerous other honors throughout his military career. As a veteran of foreign wars, his service encompassed two tours in Vietnam and a tour in Iraq and Kuwait. Following his distinguished military service, he continued to pursue personal growth through higher education at Cameron University, graduating Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science; a reflection of the sharp, disciplined mind he later brought to his information technology career.
Talented in many areas, Chuck embraced life both on and off the golf course, relishing the strategy of the game as much as the friendships that grew over time. When not golfing, he could be found tending to his garden, playing billiards, or refining his guitar skills. His craftsmanship as a woodworker produced cherished pieces that will be treasured for generations. A master of the grill, Chuck delighted his family with perfectly cooked meals during weekend and holiday gatherings. Early mornings were often spent enjoying peaceful walks with his beloved dog, Penny.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his two sisters, Sharon Chapman and Debbie Wangle.
He leaves behind his wife and partner in life, Sherri Gentry, his sons Jason Fare and Daniel Fare (Fawn), granddaughters Hazel, Iris, and Paige, and his stepsons Carter Gentry and Griffin Gentry.
A celebration of Chuck’s life will be held on February 17, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home 11801 San Jose Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32223.
