Dr. Daniel A Dodd

Dr. Daniel Allen Dodd passed away peacefully on the evening of June 25, 2026, at Mayo Clinic, surrounded by family. He was 68 years old.

Born in Middletown, New York, Dan was the oldest son of Douglas Dodd and Katherine Dodd. He graduated from the State University of New York before earning his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Life Chiropractic College in Atlanta, Georgia in 1983. While attending chiropractic school, he met the love of his life, April. After graduation, they moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where together they built Dodd Chiropractic Clinic and raised a family. A board-certified chiropractor, Dan devoted more than four decades to caring for his patients with compassion, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to improving their quality of life.

Throughout his distinguished career, Dan was deeply committed to advancing the chiropractic profession. He was an active member of the Florida Chiropractic Association, serving as its President in 2003. In recognition of his leadership and dedication, he received the FCA's prestigious Kudo Award on three separate occasions for outstanding achievement and was honored as Florida Chiropractor of the Year in 2008 for his exceptional service to both the profession and his community.

He also served as President of the Northeast Florida Chiropractic Society and was a frequent lecturer and presenter at many other chiropractic educational programs. He generously shared his knowledge with fellow practitioners and took great pride in mentoring the next generation of chiropractors. One of his greatest professional joys was welcoming his youngest son, Riley, into the profession in 2019 and having the opportunity to practice alongside him.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dan believed strongly in serving his community. He became a member of the Westside Rotary Club in 1994 and proudly served as its President in 2014. Even after completing his presidency, he remained an active member, continuing his commitment to service and building lifelong friendships.

A faithful member of Ortega Church, Dan found strength, peace, and purpose in his relationship with Christ. Whether caring for patients, serving his profession, volunteering in the community, or spending time with family and friends, he lived a life marked by kindness, humility, generosity, and compassion.

In July 2022, Dan was diagnosed with metastatic colorectal cancer. Through aggressive treatment at Mayo Clinic, he was blessed with four additional years filled with family, cherished friendships, meaningful work, and the joy of welcoming two more grandchildren into the world. He faced his illness with remarkable courage, quiet stoicism, unwavering faith, gratitude, and grace. During this journey, he journaled his prayers, reflections, and countless blessings in his life. Those writings have become a treasured gift to his family, offering comfort and a lasting glimpse into the steadfast faith that sustained him.

Above all, Dan loved his family. He was a devoted husband, a wonderful father, and a proud grandfather who found his greatest joy in the people he loved most. Whether cheering on his children and grandchildren, or simply spending time together, he treasured every moment with his family. He was a simple man that never asked for much. He loved watching football and hockey, traveling to the mountains, and relaxing on his back patio. He was known for giving great Netflix recommendations, prank calling his grandkids, sharing the latest cheesy joke he had heard, and leaving the refrigerator door open. He might tell the same story more than once – or even a few times- but his family never minded. Those familiar stories, jokes, and simple moments together are among the memories they will cherish most.

He is predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, April; his children, Ashley (Bret) Holmes, Brandon (Megan) Dodd, and Riley (Sarah) Dodd; his beloved grandchildren, Andrew Everett Dodd, Elizabeth Katherine Dodd, Ann Charles Holmes, Sadie Thomas Holmes, William Landon Dodd and Jack Harrison Dodd; his brother, David Dodd; and many extended family members, dear friends, colleagues, and grateful patients whose lives were forever enriched by his care and kindness.

Dan leaves behind an extraordinary legacy of service, leadership, healing, and faith. His compassion, wisdom, gentle spirit, and unwavering love for others will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.

One of the many prayers recorded in his journal during his cancer journey beautifully reflects the faith that carried him through each day:

"Lord, You are the Alpha and the Omega. Jesus is Lord. Thank You for the power and truth of Your Word and for the purpose and plan You have for my life. Forgive me, Lord, for speaking incorrect words. Cleanse me, Lord. I forgive myself and others. I want to walk in the fullness of Your blessings. I declare that I am blessed and healed in Jesus' name. No sickness or disease will stop me. I declare perfect health and harmony in my body. Father, bless me and my loved ones. In Jesus' name."

His family finds comfort in knowing that the faith he proclaimed throughout his life became the hope that carried him into eternal peace.
