Dolores Angeline "Doe" McKenzie Lovett, 87, succumbed to complications of Alzheimer's disease on Saturday, July 21, 2018, in Jacksonville, FL surrounded by her family. She was born on December 22, 1930, in Lexington, KY, the first daughter of Robert Malcolm and Mildred Esther (Byas) McKenzie, Sr, but grew up in Chattanooga, TN. She graduated from Central High School in 1948 and attended the University of Chattanooga. She married Billy Ray Smith on March 12, 1950, in Chattanooga and bore him four children. She led a very active life, starting her working career in Chattanooga as a bookkeeper for her father then as a nurse for a private clinic. In 1960, she married Charles Walter (Chuck) Beveridge and moved her family to Dallas, TX, where she worked as a laboratory technician and saleswoman at a clothing boutique. In 1962, she moved her family to Jacksonville, FL and worked as a surgical nurse at Duval Medical Center (now UF Health), a realtor, and an accountant for the city of Jacksonville. After she left city hall, she owned and operated Lovett's Bait and Tackle Store on Atlantic Boulevard until selling the store to her son-in-law, Danny Patrick. He turned the store into a successful boat dealership and she worked for him until her retirement. She was a master cook and baker, specializing in pastries and huge holiday feasts. She loved being around family and friends. She would take over any social gathering with her vibrant personality and "gift of gab." She could name the birthday and Zodiac sign of any celebrity or prominent person you could name. She was an avid Gator, always wearing Orange and Blue on game days. She was predeceased by her parents, brother, Robert Malcolm (Bobby) McKenzie, Jr., and three husbands: Bill Smith, Chuck Beveridge and Floyd Lovett. She is survived by her four children: Greg (Hasna) Smith, Retired CMSgt USAF, Nancy (Dede) Bradford, Kim (Danny) Patrick, and Andy Smith; grandchildren: Adam (Adriana) Smith, Amanda Smith, Chris Patrick, Paul Patrick, Darby (Mike) Larkin, and Heather (Eric) Utter, Rema Alsaid, Ramzi Alsaid, Raaid (April) Alsaid, Rose Alsaid; sister, Katy Viola (Kathryn) McKenzie Leeper; nieces, Cathy (Charlie) Sininger, Debbie (Pino) Lertora, Ginger (Mauro) Bertini, ; nephews,Terri (Anthony) Galanides, Steve (Leslie) Leeper, Joel (Carolyn) Moore and Kirby Moore; special cousin, Howard Franklin (Sonny) McKenzie, Retired Colonel USA; numerous other cousins and friends. The family would like to thank all of the nurses and CNAs at Riverwood and Community Hospice for their assistance and kindness during her illness.
