Obituary for Dorothy Grace Foley

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dorothy Grace Foley, who departed from this world on May 15, 2025, at the age of 98. Born on December 9, 1926, in Queens, NY, Dorothy lived an adventurous fun filled life always guided by humor.

Dorothy's dedication to her family was unwavering, and she leaves behind her beloved daughters,Judith Jakhelln and Nancy Martel, as well as son-in-law Haakon Jakhelln and son-in-law Paul Martel. She was a proud grandmother to Elise Speck, Jillian Nelson and Brittany Kelly. Dorothy was especially delighted to be a great-grandmother to Jace Danukos, Quinn Danukos, Zoe Speck, Ellis Nelson, Jack Stoner, and Lila Stoner. Throughout her years, Dorothy's love for her family, her dogs and cats filled her home with warmth and joy.

An established presence in the fine jewelry industry as a sales associate at JCPenny, Dorothy excelled not only in her professional life but also in her personal endeavors. She enjoyed singing in her church choir, an avid card player, cooking and baking for her loved ones, exploring her passion for gardening, and finding the best deals while shopping. Dorothy loved the ocean. She spent countless hours swimming and riding the waves long into her adult life. Her time spent with her "Silver Sneakers" friends exemplified her commitment to health, fitness and her relationships.

Dorothy's faith grew deeper in recent years, and her relationship with God brought her solace and strength. She had a unique ability to engage in conversation, effortlessly breaking the ice with her humor and creating laughter even in challenging situations.

Funeral services will be held on June 14 at 11 AM, at Good News Church, 573 West Twincourt Trail St. Augustine, FL 32095. A celebration of Dorothy's remarkable life will follow at the church, where friends and family will gather to share memories and honor her legacy. She will be dearly missed, but her spirit and love will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents William R.Knapp, Dorothea Ellis Knapp, and her grandson David Jakhelln.
