Douglas Anthony Braeckel

Douglas Anthony Braeckel, 55, left this world on March 21, 2026 in Jacksonville, FL, leaving a void in his wake.

He was born on August 13, 1970, in Columbus, OH, and moved to South Florida when he was a toddler. Doug grew up in Jupiter, FL, and graduated from Jupiter Christian School. He went on to receive a BA in Geography from the University of Arkansas.

Doug also had his private pilot, remote pilot, and amateur radio operator licenses.

Doug dedicated himself to an impressive career in geospatial technologies, including robotics, machine learning, and surveying. He was a certified Geographic Information Systems Professional and well respected within the industry. Doug leaves behind a legacy of innovation and impact.

Doug had a thirst for knowledge and a deep desire to understand how things worked. His interests spanned technology, mechanics, electronics, robotics, aviation, motorcycles, cars, planes, trains, and photography. He was a creator, inventor, and fabricator, and he could almost always be found tinkering in the garage. There truly wasn't anything he couldn't build or fix. Always ready with a helping hand, Doug loved sharing his knowledge and teaching something new. You couldn't spend time with him without walking away a little smarter and better for having been in his orbit.

Doug leaves behind his wife Rebecca of 21 years, father, Thomas Braeckel (Linda) and other family and friends.

Doug will be greatly missed immeasurably by his wife, family, friends and colleagues.
