Edward P. Saker Jr. veteran, real estate mogul, entrepreneur, and curmudgeon, passed away on January 13, 2026, at the age of 77.

Born August 13, 1948 in Wheeling WVa and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, Ed wasted no time escaping the cold. At 17, he joined the U.S. Navy and proudly served in Vietnam aboard the USS Power earning several commendations, including a Purple Heart. After his discharge, his final port of call became his permanent home: Jacksonville, FL

Following in his father’s footsteps, Ed began his career in sales, starting with door-to-door pots & pans before finding his true calling in real estate. He founded Saker & Associates in 1982 mentoring many of Jacksonville’s top agents and building homes where families will continue to build memories for generations to come.

When disaster forced the company to close, Ed did what he always did: charged forward. He launched several new ventures across different markets, guided by his credo: “Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve.”

In retirement, Ed enjoyed fishing, church, political debate, and drinking coffee every morning while watching the sun rise over the river, usually all with strong opinions.

Ed is survived by his sister Sharon Saker of Prattsburgh, NY; nephews Colin Crook and Jamey Crook, half Sister Karen Jorgensen, longtime confidante Belinda; stepson Kris; grandsons Ace and Max; and more friends than could ever be counted.
