Ellen Elizabeth Hasse, 86, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 23, 2025. Born on May 12, 1939, in Summit, New Jersey, Ellen lived a life full of love, laughter, and deep devotion to her family and friends.
Ellen dedicated 35 years of service to the phone company before embarking on a second career as a school bus driver, where she made a lasting impact on the lives of many children. She retired once more after ten fulfilling years behind the wheel, always bringing warmth and a smile to her passengers.
In retirement, Ellen stayed active and social. She was a proud member of her local Moose Lodge, where she enjoyed camaraderie and community. She had a passion for darts, days at the beach, and never missed her daily crossword puzzle. But above all, she treasured the time spent with her beloved family.
She is survived by her daughters, E. Pamela Prudente (partner Kenneth Barlow) and Elizabeth Hasse. Ellen was the proud grandmother of eight: Debbie Prudente, Justine Prudente, Jeff Prudente (Christine), Jane Hurst (Andrew), Robert Gunderson, Jonathan Gunderson, Nicholas Gunderson, and Christopher Gunderson (Allene). She was also blessed with nine great-grandchildren who brought her endless joy.
Ellen will be remembered for her fun-loving spirit, sharp wit, and unwavering pride in her family. She was a grandmother who adored her grandchildren fiercely and made everyone around her feel special.
In accordance with her wishes, Ellen will be cremated. The family will honor her life in a private gathering.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who loved her.
