Gladys Marie Taylor, 96, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on May 20, 2026. Born on October 16, 1929, in Baxley, Georgia, Marie was known for her love of her dogs, Teddy and Little Bit, and her cats, Mommy Cat and Priss. She also was a resourceful mother and wife, making ends meet in tough times throughout the years. She had a love for knowledge and attended college courses several times throughout her life. She had fond memories of her time at Andrew Jackson High School and her early jobs in the banking industry. She had a love for genealogical research and documented our bloodlines up to 10 generations back.
She graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in 1947. She worked at First Financial Savings and Loan in Jacksonville, Florida before meeting her husband, Lewis Taylor who predeceased her, and focusing on family. She worked in the office at Trinity Christian Academy, Jacksonville, Florida, for ten years. She later worked for and retired from ATT American Transtech, Jacksonville, Florida. She also worked at Josten's Cap & Gown in Laurens, South Carolina.
In recent years, she returned to Jacksonville, Florida and enjoyed retirement playing BINGO and getting her hair done weekly. Throughout, she has never lost her love for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and enjoyed her Sunday morning sermons.
She is survived by her son, Dwight Taylor, and daughter-in-law, Tish; her daughter, Margaret Taylor; her daughter, Alitia Riddle, and son-in-law, Steve; three grandchildren, Jason, Alyssa, and Brittni; two great-grandchildren, Bash and Zeke; and her kitty cat, Priss.
The family will hold a private celebration of life at a later date.
