James “Jimmy” Leroy Bowden Sr., born on May 11, 1955, in Jacksonville, Florida, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2026, at the age of 70.
A lifelong resident of Jacksonville, Jimmy was a dedicated ironworker with Iron Workers Local 597, where he contributed his skill, strength, and unwavering work ethic to the construction industry. He proudly followed in his family’s footsteps, as his father, John Bowden, served as President of Iron Workers Local 597.
Jimmy was a passionate man who found joy in many things. He was an avid pool player and golfer, and he had a deep love for sports—especially football. Whether playing or watching, he cherished the camaraderie and competition it brought. He was a loyal fan of the Florida Gators and the Jacksonville Jaguars. Jimmy also took great pride in his grilling, which brought family and friends together for countless memorable gatherings.
Above all, Jimmy was a man who loved deeply and cared for everyone. He was a fighter who stood firm in his beliefs, a man of strength and resilience. He lived by the motto: “Tough times don’t last forever, but tough people do.”
He was preceded in death by his father, John Bowden; his mother, Lois Bowden; his brothers, Johnny Bowden, Michael Bowden, and Randy Bowden; and his sisters, June Mullis and Donna Miller.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Miranda Brazier (Jason); his son, James Bowden Jr.; his three grandchildren, Shawn Didone, Kaleb Didone, and Wyatt Brazier; and a host of other family members and friends who will cherish his memory.
