Karl Lindroth Kronquist, born February 19, 1949, in Massachusetts, passed away peacefully from natural causes on June 4, 2026, in Jacksonville, Florida. He was a devoted husband to Carolyn Kronquist and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Karl attended Mercer University where he earned his undergraduate degree of Political Science. While at Mercer he met Julie Howell. They married in August 1972 remaining married until her death in 2016. Julie and Karl had two amazing daughters, who he loved with all his heart.

Karl dedicated his professional life to working as a banker, sales professional, real estate agent and financial consultant. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Karl had a passion for all things ocean. He started sailing as a young child, working a paper route and mowing lawns to purchase his first sailboat at age ten, continuing to find ways throughout his life to sail and participate in races. His passion for art history and architecture fueled countless conversations and enriched the lives of those around him. He was a talented artist himself and used his skills to create whimsical cards and paintings for friends and family and was always eager to help his daughters with any school project requiring creativity.

Karl could name every plant he encountered and loved to talk about the best way to grow local plants and flowers. He was instrumental in the fund raising for constructing the modern baseball fields at Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church, and helped establish the non-profit Hendricks Avenue Community Athletic Association (HACAA). Karl was a long-time member of Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church where he held many roles including chair and member of many committees, member of the diaconate, member of the choir, Wednesday night cook, Sunday school teacher, and HAB on Broadway superstar.

He cherished the time spent with his grandchildren, Caden, Avery, Lucas, and Matthew, often sharing stories that amused them and captivated their imaginations. Karl's love for storytelling was a hallmark of his character, as he enjoyed engaging with his community and friends, finding joy in shared experiences and laughter. He loved to laugh, and to make others laugh.

Karl was preceded in death by his wife, Julie, his brother Lars and his parents David and Maria Louise Kronquist. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Hinckley Kronquist; his daughter, Karla Repper (Kyle Reese) and her children, Lucas Repper and Matthew Repper; his daughter, Kay Gackle (Greg Gackle); and their children, Caden Gackle and Avery Gackle; his sister Linda Short, his late wife's sisters, Susan Howell and Debbie Hagan; step-children Kristina Brookins and Clay Hinckley and their children, Bobby Gilbreath, Jonah Brookins, Layla Hinckley and Lauren Hinckley.
