Linda Arthur

Linda Renee Arthur, born August 27, 1949, in Eustis, Florida, passed away on October 8, 2025, in Jacksonville, Florida, at the age of 76.

Born Linda Renee Ward, she was predeceased by her parents, Addielee Henderson Ward and Comer Lee Ward, and her brother, John Cleveland Ward. Her children lovingly remember her: John Bruno, Tonya Naranjo (Sixto), Jason Groves, and Joshua Groves; her grandchildren: Victoria Naranjo, Ryan Hargett, Julia Naranjo, Isabella Naranjo, Lyla Groves, Ruby Groves, and Beckett Groves; her fiancé, Ross Hendrickson; her best friend, Kellie Meyer; and dear friends. She also leaves behind her cherished cats and her beloved dog, Roxie.

Linda earned her cosmetology license at the age of 17 and found great joy in being a hairdresser. Even after retirement, she continued to cut and style hair for friends. Her compassion extended far beyond people-she had a deep love for animals and dedicated much of her life to rescuing them. In Jacksonville alone, she trapped, rescued, and got over 400 cats spayed or neutered through the years. She fostered many more in hopes of finding them loving homes and regularly fed homeless cat colonies throughout the area.

Linda's heart was as generous as it was tireless. She adored her children and grandchildren and took immense pride in their accomplishments. She found joy in spending time with friends and helping others whenever she could.

She passed away peacefully at Community Hospice Center for Caring at Ascencion St. Vincent's Southside in Jacksonville after being transferred from Mayo Clinic on October 7.

In accordance with her wishes, her ashes will be spread by her family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to local animal rescue organizations in her memory.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
