Surrounded by the love of her family, Lona Loudean Hill, beloved daughter of Josephine Medley, who preceded her in death, passed peacefully on July 19, 2026, at the age of 71. Her greatest joy and proudest accomplishment were her children and grandchildren. Though she often preferred the quiet comfort of a small circle, she had a remarkable gift for making others feel welcome, encouraged, and stronger simply through her presence.
An avid reader and devoted student of history, Lona believed that learning was a lifelong pursuit. In 2007, she fulfilled a personal dream by earning her bachelor's degree in History from the University of North Florida. The accomplishment reflected her determination, curiosity, and enduring love of knowledge. Throughout her life, she worked in many different roles, but no title ever meant more to her than that of mother and grandmother.
Lona is survived by her three sons, Henry Salazar and twins Alex Salazar and Abel Salazar; her beloved grandchildren, Noah Salazar, Jonathan Salazar, and Jacob Salazar; her daughters-in-law, Shelley Salazar and Elisa Salazar; and her brother, William Medley.
Lona will be remembered for her quiet strength, resilience, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her love, wisdom, and example will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her legacy is found not in the jobs she held, but in the family she raised, the lives she touched, and the love she gave so freely. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
"Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your Master's happiness!" Matthew 25:23
