Lynette Monroe, 67, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on June 20, 2025.
Born on June 5, 1958, in Jacksonville, Florida, Lynette Leona Robinson was the daughter of the late Bernice Elizabeth Robinson and Leo Roosevelt Robinson Sr.
Lynette was a woman whose strength ran deeper than most people ever saw, and whose love carried generations. She died just after sunrise, peacefully, surrounded by her son who loved her most-her hands still warm, her breath soft as a sigh.
She lived a life of devotion: to family, to healing, to God. She served for nearly two decades as a traffic clerk at the Duval County Courthouse. She also had a tenured career at BlueCross BlueShield of Florida, where she worked as a medical billing representative.
Lynette's life was deeply shaped by love, motherhood, and enduring partnership. She was formerly married to Terrence T. Bell, father of her daughter Alana Teree Bell, who passed on August 22, 2022; and to Sheldon Slaughter, father of her youngest son, Devin Keith Slaughter, who passed on July 25, 1986. She shared a bond with Robert Lee Edmondson Sr., the late father of her firstborn, Damien Lamar Robinson. In her later years, she was united in marriage to Marcellus Monroe, who also preceded her in death.
She knew grief intimately. Their absence never dulled her love-it sharpened it. She lived with the kind of ache that doesn't ask for pity but reveals the shape of a mother's faith. She was also preceded in death by her beloved siblings: Loretta Victoria Robinson, Leo Roosevelt Robinson Jr., Leonard "Larry Johnson" Robinson (Sheila Johnson), Kathryn Jean Robinson, Peggy Ann Humphries, and Letrice Bonita Clements.
She is survived by her son, Damien Lamar Robinson; her sisters Jackie Morris Williams, and Janice Taylor; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and a lifelong, close-knit circle of friends who became family over the years.
Her strength was the kind you felt just being near her. Her love-stubborn, steady, and unshakable-remains.
You're now Safe in His Arms and reunited with your loved ones. We do not say goodbye. We say rest now, Lynette.
Her Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 27, at 6 p.m., at Naugle Funeral Home & Crematorium. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida in her memory.
