Mary Jane Partin Humphrys, 85, of St. Augustine, Florida passed away peacefully on October 16, 2025. Born on October 20, 1939, in Bronson, Florida, Mary Jane lived a long, adventurous, and joy-filled life surrounded by the family she cherished so deeply. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Florida in 1977 and became a Certified Public Accountant. Mary Jane worked as a comptroller in the Florida Community College system for many years.

Mary Jane was known for her generous heart, her love of southern cooking, and her lifelong fondness for the beach. She also had a deep passion for travel and experiencing the world — from exploring new places to savoring the simple joy of a road trip with loved ones. Mary Jane traveled extensively including all over Europe, Africa, China and South America. She returned home with her amazing stories and of course trinkets for the grandchildren she adored. Mary Jane shared this love of travel with her children and grandchildren with trips to New York City, Italy, France, and Caribbean Cruises. She was known to say, “There are no bad trips …just some that are better than others.” Wherever she went, she brought joy, laughter, and a sense of wonder.

She is survived by her children, Margaret Wise Samuels (Benford) David Kenneth Wise, Jr. (Allison), son-in-law Rick Patsy, seven granddaughters: Callie Caldwell (Zac), MaryBeth Lightfoot (Russell), Caroline Barnes (Matt), Eleanor Siegel (Eric), Maggie Patsy, Virginia Samuels, and Ella Kate Wise. One grandson; Kenneth Wise and three great-grandsons all of whom brought her endless pride and happiness. Her stepsons Jim Humphrys (Diane), Steve Humphrys (Diane), and Michael Humphrys (Janice) who gave her amazing support for many years. She is also survived by her brothers Bud Partin and Leroy Partin (Glenda). She was predeceased by her husband, James Humphrys, and her beloved daughter, Ginger Wise Patsy, her brother Harold Partin and her parents John C. Partin, JR and Callie Sims Partin.

Mary Jane’s life was one of love, laughter, and spontaneity. She embraced every chapter with grace and gratitude, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, compassion, and love that will live on through her family and all who knew her.

Her family will celebrate her well lived life in private at a future date. In her honor, share a good meal, watch a sunset at the beach, or plan a trip to somewhere new — and remember her with a smile. Memorial donations may be made to Community Hospice and Palliative Care of Jacksonville.
