Maxwell Cook Snyder III, 69, passed away peacefully at home on December 28, 2025 after a courageous battle with ALS. Max was born on May 13,1956 in Jacksonville on Mothers Day and was a graduate from Bolles in Jacksonville and Flagler College in St. Augustine where he lettered 4 years in soccer. Max married Donette Prevatt on December 18, 1981 and had just celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary. He is survived by his wife and two children Ashleigh Hammad (Hasan) and Maxwell Cole Snyder (Kaytelyn) and three amazing grandchildren: Karim Maxwell Hammad, Harper Noel Snyder and Brynleigh Kate Snyder, a brother Paul Thornton Snyder and sister Mary Burke Evans, as well as nephews and nieces.
Max had a long career in landscaping and design but then later chose a different career path and became a paramedic working with St. Vincents/Ascension. He felt that giving back was crucial and spent his last years with the St. Vincent's Mobile Health Unit. Believing that we are called to be more and do more, he was involved through the years in church, Riverside Rotary, Marriage Encounter, Christian Healing Ministry, Westside Soccer Club and at age 17, rode his bicycle with Men in Motion from San Francisco to Jacksonville in 21 days (to name a few). He enjoyed golf, cycling, woodworking and camping with family and friends. His favorite quote was: "If you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans!"
A memorial service will be held to celebrate Max's life at Grace Anglican Church, Fleming Island, 5804 US-17 on Saturday, February 21 at 11:00 with a reception following at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ALS Association or Christian Healing Ministry at 438 W. 67th Street, Jacksonville, 32208.
Arrangements under the care of Naugle Funeral Home & Cremation Services 1203 Hendricks Ave., Jacksonville, FL. (904)396-1611
