Michael Dennis Jones, Sr.

November 13, 1951 — August 20, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael Dennis Jones, a proud 40-year resident of North Jacksonville, age 73, who left us unexpectedly on August 20, 2025, at 7:55 PM. Michael was born on November 13, 1951, in Binghamton, NY. He was the beloved son of John Paul Jones of Mount Pleasant, PA, and Madeline Marie Schaffer. Michael was married to Rose Vanfleet, and together they raised three children whom he loved dearly: Michael Dennis Jones Jr. and wife Melissa Jones, Paul Richard Jones, and Stacey Jones (Towndrow).

Alongside his family, Michael had a faithful companion, his loyal and loved dog, Rambo. He was blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him endless pride and joy. Later in life, he discovered he had a daughter, Amy, prior to his marriage, and reconnecting with her brought him immense happiness. Michael’s life was rich with stories, adventures, and friendships. He cherished the places he visited and the people he met, maintaining close bonds with friends from his trade and beyond, even up to his passing. A lifelong love of the water defined him. Whether fishing or simply sitting by the shore, he found peace in watching the ripples and listening to the gentle rhythm of the lake. He was also a devoted Florida Gators and Jacksonville Jaguars fan.

Michael was a dedicated sheet metal worker for many years. He loved sharing stories from his days with the crew and the many places he worked. His strong hands and tireless effort stood as a lasting testament to his skill, artistry, and hard work. In his later years, Michael found great comfort in his faith in Jesus Christ, which brought him peace—especially after the passing of his longtime girlfriend, Angela Everly, in 2012, whom he loved with all his heart. His faith sustained him through life’s challenges. One of his favorite scriptures was Psalm 90, a prayer of Moses: "Lord, you have been our dwelling place throughout all generations. Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God...May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish the work of our hands for us—yes, establish the work of our hands."

Michael will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by his generosity, humor, and enduring spirit. The family deeply appreciates your love, prayers, and sympathy. At this time, they will be holding a private memorial service in his honor
