Mitchell Patch

Mitchell Drew Patch and his beautiful son, Everett James Patch, passed away together on May 16, 2025. Mitchell was born on July 11, 1990, to Amanda Figart and Lee Patch. He was a devoted husband, father, son, and cherished friend; a source of warmth, laughter, and unwavering loyalty to all who had the privilege of knowing him. Becoming a husband and father brought Mitchell immense joy and pride, and he treasured every moment with his family.

From an early age, Mitchell found joy in the outdoors and the company of friends. He loved riding bikes, fishing, playing basketball and paintball, and engaging in imaginative games like cops and robbers. His mischievous spirit and boundless energy often led him into trouble, especially if it meant making someone smile. A generous and devoted friend, Mitchell had a heart as big as his sense of humor. He readily opened his home to others, offering support without hesitation. Though known for his thriftiness—famously asking his mother whether Goodwill had discounts—he never hesitated to give to those in need. He found great joy in organizing tailgates for the Florida-Georgia game, bringing people together through food and fellowship.

Mitchell was a proud graduate of University Christian High School, where he played left tackle for the Fighting Christians football team. As a two-year starter, he helped lead his team to the state playoffs during his junior year. He later earned a teaching degree from Florida State College and spent more than 12 years at Bayview Elementary School as a dedicated 3rd-grade teacher and math coach. For the 2023/2024 school year, he earned the Bayview Elementary Teacher of the Year award. His passion for education and unwavering commitment to his students left a lasting impact.

Mitchell first met his wife, Mary Allred, on a blind date, where they quickly bonded over tacos, margaritas, and the necessity of a queso appetizer. After the date, Mitchell messaged Mary, but she didn’t see it for weeks, leading Mitchell to believe Mary wasn’t interested. A mutual friend reached out to Mary, asking why she had not responded to Mitchell. After Mary got the message, they were inseparable. Weekly taco Tuesday dates and dining at local breweries became a regular part of their courtship, until Mary inevitably replaced LeBron James as Mitchell’s true love. On December 30, 2020, Mitchell proposed to Mary at Table Rock State Park in South Carolina, surrounded by his family. On November 12, 2021, Mitchell and Mary committed their lives to each other. On April 13, 2024, they shared their greatest moment, the birth of their baby boy, Everett.

Everett loved being with his father and sharing in his activities. Mitchell constantly tackled DIY house projects, and Everett loved to mimic his father with his toy tools. Like his father, Everett loved to be outdoors, craving backyard playtime and always fighting his inevitable return indoors. After bath time, Everett loved dancing to country music, just like his daddy. Mitchell had an extraordinary ability to bring laughter and comfort to those around him. Mitchell was a protector, caregiver, prankster, and a steadfast source of strength for anyone who needed him; truly the type of friend everyone dreams of having. His love was deep, his loyalty unwavering, and his presence truly unforgettable.

Mitchell is survived by his loving wife, Mary; his mother, Amanda Figart and stepfather Larry Figart; father, Lee Patch and stepmother Yvette Patch; his maternal grandmother, Mary Browder; paternal grandparents Ken and Joan Patch; brother Aaron Figart; stepsister Tricia Hernandez, and a vast community of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, students, and loved ones who will forever hold his memory in their hearts.

Graveside service will be held on Friday May 23, 2025 at the Mandarin Cemetery. Flowers may be delivered to Naugle Funeral Home and Cremation Services at 1203 Hendricks Avenue, Jacksonville, Florida 32207.
