Myles Spires, Sr Profile Photo
Myles Spires, Sr. was born on January 1, 1943 to Cary Spires and Inez Swails-Spires in Marianna, Florida. He migrated to Atlantic City, New Jersey where he met and married Zelphia Sharpe (aka Akua Opokuwaa now of Ghana, West Africa). "Sugar Boy", as he was known, was a veteran of the United States Army and served as a police officer for the United States Postal Service for thirty years. As one to embrace hard work, Sugar Boy was no stranger to embarking upon money making enterprises including landscaping, owning and operating food and ice cream trucks, and real estate investing. Above all of his pursuits however, was his desire to see his family maintaining a strong connection. No matter what his personal endeavor, Sugar Boy gave family the first opportunity to participate in whatever he did and all others remained a distant second.
He loved his children, his grandchildren, and his siblings. He will be remembered by his five children, Wesley, Florentia, Cary, Myles, and Sean; his siblings Massieren, Lemon, Irene, Shelvy, and Joe; sixteen grandchildren; one great-grandson, a long-time and devoted friend, Jean Houston of Los Angeles, California, and a host of loving relatives and friends.
