Sandra Ann Moore

Sandra Ann Young Moore, 81, died Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Community Hospice in Jacksonville, Florida. Mrs. Moore was born in West Palm Beach, Florida, on August 22, 1944, to the late Kenneth Woodson Young and Pauline Simon Young. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her younger brother, Kenneth Ford Young.

Mrs. Moore is survived by her husband of 37 years, Tommy Keith Moore of Jacksonville; daughter, Stacy Daniels, her husband, Jimmy, and their children Dove (Chase) Cottle, Sarai (Ben) Hitchcock, James Daniels, Tabitha (Garrison) Black, Jacob, Joshua, and Naomi Daniels; step-son, Justin Moore, his wife, Kelly and their son, Owen Moore; step-daughter, Julie Moore Barnes, her husband, Bryan and their sons Logan and Brody Barnes.

Mrs. Moore graduated from Forest Hill High School in West Palm Beach in 1962 and Florida State University in 1965, where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She returned to Tallahassee several years after college and remained in the same home, which she always kept immaculate and updated to keep up with Southern Living standards, until her move to Jacksonville in 2021. She was a dedicated volunteer for the Junior League of Tallahassee, Market Days for the Tallahassee Museum, and the Public Libraries in Tallahassee and Jacksonville. She was a former member of Holy Comforter Episcopal Church in Tallahassee. Mrs. Moore returned to school in the mid-1980s to become a data systems analyst and worked for the State of Florida, Florida State University, and retired as the Information Systems Chief for the Florida Legislature in 2011.

Mrs. Moore was a pretty, petite lady who kept herself as orderly as her home. She was tenacious, conscientious, and had high expectations for her family and those who worked for her; manners and respect were non-negotiables. She was practical, intelligent, and serious, yet witty. Mrs. Moore had an appreciation for culture and fine arts; she traveled to Europe several times, enjoyed attending theater, and played the piano. She played tennis in her younger years, remained active as long as possible, and even took up Pilates in her later years. She enjoyed the outdoors and maintained a beautiful garden. Her home was always inviting, her meals were always delicious, and her table was properly set regardless of the occasion. She was an avid reader and shared that love with her grandchildren. She was kind and generously gave freely to those in need and to those she loved.

Mrs. Moore will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her, especially her husband, children, grandchildren, and her caretakers, Ghizzy and Annie, whom she referred to as "her angels."

Mrs. Moore will be buried at the Tallahassee National Cemetery. Information about memorial services will be provided at a later date.
