Trudy Darlene Secrest

Trudy Darlene (Fetterhoff) Secrest, passed peacefully in her sleep on the morning of June 6th in Jacksonville, FL, after a multi-year battle with Alzheimer's disease. 

Trudy was born on January 13, 1960 in Chambersburg, PA to George Donald and Anna Belle (Armstrong) Fetterhoff. Trudy graduated from Chambersburg Area Senior High School in 1977. She attended Muhlenberg College and went on to study at George Washington University, graduating in 1981 with a Bachelor of Arts in English. 

Trudy wed Curtis Secrest in 1983 and they had three children, Corey Secrest, Kiley Secrest, and Kelsey (Secrest) Oestmann. Trudy found her calling as a teacher, working initially as a substitute and later as a middle school English teacher. She taught eighth grade English for many years at Spotsylvania Middle School in Spotsylvania, VA. 

She went on to sell real estate in Orange Park and Jacksonville, FL. In 2009, she went to work for Florida State College at Jacksonville as the Learning Commons Manager for the Deerwood Campus. In 2018, she transferred to the FSCJ Downtown campus; where she retired in 2019. 

Trudy is remembered for her warm and kind personality. She served as a mother and mentor to many. She loved the beach and all things related to the sun and water. She passionately loved her family and her many fur babies. She will always be dearly missed by family and friends.

A Celebration of Life service to honor Trudy's life will be held at Naugle Funeral Home on Thursday, June 11, 2026 at 1pm.
